This year's competition was organized by University College London and hosted by the American University in Bulgaria. It took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, from the 31st of July to the 6th of August, 2017. Every participating university sent several students and one or more Team Leaders. Individual students without a Team Leader were welcome. Each Team Leader hold an academic position in a Faculty of the Intitution that they represent.

The competition was for students completing their first, second, third or fourth year of university education with a maximum age of participants being 23 years of age at the time of the competition. There was no mimimum age limit. Problems were from the fields of Algebra, Analysis (Real and Complex), Geometry and Combinatorics. The working language was English.
